Dynamic Forms

Dynamic Forms

SoftForge Dynamic Forms replaces the standard form of a SharePoint list with a freely configurable form: you define sections, choose the columns, show or hide fields and sections depending on input, preset default values and add explanatory text. Configuration is entirely visual – no JSON and no development required.

Who is it for?

  • Site owners and power users who want to adapt a list form without code.
  • Business departments who want requests, applications or reports captured in a clear form – for example as a request form on an intranet page.
  • IT administrators who want a uniform solution without API permissions and without a server of their own.

Typical use cases

  • Request form on a page: Visitors fill in a form directly on the page or open it from a button in a dialog. Every submission creates a new list item.
  • Structured data entry in the list: From the command bar of the list you open new or existing items in the configured form instead of the standard form.
  • Conditional forms: Additional fields appear only when they are needed – for example a justification field only when «Other» is selected, or an entire «Details» section for a specific category.
  • Find and edit or display existing items: With the item picker, visitors search for an existing item on a page and open it for editing or for display only.
  • Configure once, reuse many times: The configuration of a list can be reused on any number of pages.

Structure of the solution

The solution consists of two parts delivered in the same package:

PartPurpose
Web part «SoftForge Dynamisches Formular»A form on a SharePoint page, for example a request form for new items
Commands in the command bar of a listCreate new items, edit or display existing ones and configure the form of the list

Both parts use the same configurator and the same form engine. Details are described under Placement & command bar.
